tasting notes
The J. Lohr Hilltop is a stunning example of the "dense, but soft"
house style of Cabernet Sauvignon that has made J. Lohr famous
across the country and around the world. Effusive blackberry
and currant aromas are seamlessly integrated with a bouquet
of toasted hazelnut and cocoa powder from aging in the finest
French oak barrels. On the palate, generous layers of vibrant fruit
dominate, gliding to a silky finish.
winemaker's insight
The Hilltop Cabernet Sauvignon is grown on a handful of
exceptional Paso Robles vineyard sites that are blessed with
long summer days of intense sunshine, followed by chilly, ocean-
cooled nights in the 50s. The vines are naturally stressed in the
dry soils, where the team is able to fine-tune the irrigation to
achieve beautifully dark grapes, with luxurious flavors and plush,
resolved tannins vintage after vintage.
