THE MODERN RESIDENCE
ABOVE: The simple, compact form of the house is inflected by the angled
recess articulating the front door. The vertical cedar siding references the
vertical reading of the trees beyond.
LEFT: The house is positioned directly along the edge of a heavily wooded
slope. The deck extends the ground plane of the front lawn and overlooks the
wooded site.
FACING PAGE TOP: The kitchen is the primary space of the house, with the
utility functions located beneath the bridge connecting the upper-level
bedrooms and the two-story windows affording tree canopy-level views of the
woods.
FACING PAGE BOTTOM: The open floor plan is organized around the mass of
the fireplace and main stair connecting all three levels.
