THE MODERN RESIDENCE
FACING PAGE & BELOW: While the house is mostly open-plan, there is one element that cleverly separates the public areas: the "central
core." This houses service and circulation, including a shaft for a future elevator and the chimney for the living room fireplace on the
outer face of the core. The wood block, glass, and steel staircase is set against the inner face of the core, leading up to the second-floor
office and down to the exercise room and guest suite. The central vaulted roof stretches over the stairwell with its surrounding catwalk
as well as the office and its porch overlooking the river.
