FACING PAGE & BELOW: Morning light fills the central dining area, which is figuratively and literally the pivotal heart in the building's
plan. Afternoon sun filters through the veil of lakeside trees, raking across the main living spaces. The guest house comfortably sleeps
10 and provides generous living spaces by incorporating efficient elements such as built-in storage and seating, pocket doors, and lift-
and-slide windows and doors. Western red cedar walls and ceilings and American black walnut wide-plank floors provide a subdued
interior envelope, which focuses the view outward, prioritizing the wooded landscape. A reverence for the materiality and craft of
wood construction implies a connection to the forest beyond the building.
