THE MODERN RESIDENCE
BELOW TOP: We spent a lot of time opening up and reimagining the relationships between the living room, dining room, and kitchen. The original home was highly
separated and segmented with a circulation route that didn't support the type of direct connectivity between the spaces that client wanted.
BELOW BOTTOM LEFT: Natural light floods the sleek contemporary kitchen by Bulthaup, all framed by the upper clearstory windows and a direct visual connection
from kitchen sink to the pool—something the client highly desired.
BELOW BOTTON RIGHT: In the living room and kitchen, we raised and folded the ceiling to develop areas of raised expanse and others of more enclosed
privatization. We introduced clearstory views along the north, linking the house to the outside landscape and allowing the adjacent treetops to become visible from
the inside—again linking the surrounding environment to the interior space.
