BELOW: We intentionally used limited upholstery in a large library space to provide access to the bookcases. The deep drawers supporting the bookshelves are designed
for files of every kind: photos, clippings, memorabilia. The sliding-walnut door can provide privacy yet tease the eye with small view through the glass openings.

FACING PAGE: The Italian desk was the initial inspiration for this space, which sits immediately off the entry hall. In a small room with a pair of English club chairs and a
regency cabinet filled with antique books and bronze animal figures, this desk is an ideal place for reading, writing, or additional seating. The wall collection of f ramed faces
was taken f rom Heads, a book dated 1704. The images represent the various passions of the soul, expressed in the human countenance.
