3 ABOVE TOP: Attached to what was once a bleach factory, this penthouse sits across f rom the French Quarter with impressive views of the Mississippi River. It was important to the client that nothing block or rise above the windows, which allow for light to pour in and show the character of the architecture. The space includes myriad shapes— notice the cow-hide rugs and geometrical furniture—made warm with a variety of textures: leather, wood, linen, and even faux chinchilla on the modern scoop chair. ABOVE BOTTOM: Set on historic St. Charles Avenue, the period stone house was converted into condos. This particular space works as a multi-purpose setting—a den, living space, office, and second bedroom. The sofa pulls out into a full-size bed to accommodate overnight guests. Created by local artist Ashley Longshore, the custom painting adds to the room's fun, eclectic vibe. FACING PAGE: Man caves don't have to be hyper masculine. For a guest bedroom-turned-living space where the husband watches television and relaxes, I added in a few feminine elements so the wife also feels welcome. The Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams chair and ottoman add a plush, feline touch, while the custom chartreuse pillow f rom a Magazine Street boutique offers a vibrant pop of color.
