ABOVE: Within a tight urban village lot of only 6,000 square feet, the owner wanted a contemporary 4,000-square-foot home. Given the setbacks, the only way to achieve
this was to go vertical. The four-story home is hemmed in on all sides and yet still allows for connection to the outdoors on every floor.
FACING PAGE: Designed as a series of planes circulating around eddies of calm repose, the home expands into the larger landscape through controlled views of nature
and by lifting the roof above the walls so that it rests on a near continuous band of clerestory glass.
