ABOVE: A tranquil scene is created when the focal point, a Japanese maple, is illuminated using a
combination of uplighting at the base and subtle downlighting to highlight the upper canopy. The
layered approach allows the tree's form to reflect softly across the surface of the water while the
surrounding light completes the scene.

TOP RIGHT: On this expansive residential property, a balance of uplighting and downlighting is
used to reveal the graceful structure of the birch trees. Additional downlighting also enhances the
surrounding landscape, designed by Will Hibbs of Oliver Design Associates, while autumnal red
foliage near the patio is highlighted to add seasonal warmth and visual contrast.

BOTTOM RIGHT: From the patio near the main residence, the view toward the pool house is guided
by discreet step lights recessed into the bluestone pathway. Warm illumination accentuates the
texture of the stone walls, while softly lit mature evergreens provide depth and a sense of scale
without overpowering the eye.
