party I'd orchestrated—suggested that I start catering
professionally. I never had a business plan, I just
started giving parties and people loved them and
the referrals kept coming.
I'm a firm believer in joining industry associations
and have learned from networking with my peers
across the country. Serving on the board of The
International Caterers Association gave me a wealth
of experience that I've shared over the years
throughout our company. We've been blessed to
have won industry awards at the national level.
I've had the support of family since the beginning—
my mother helped cook and my mother-in-law did a
lot of the prep work. Kathy G. & Co. grew like crazy,
and my husband eventually left his law practice to
help oversee the business side of things. I am forever
grateful for his unconditional love and support. And
our son, Jason, who thankfully redirected his studies
from public relations to the culinary world so long
ago, has served as the executive chef for more than a
decade now.
