A R C H I T E CT U R E 343 Yellowstone Architects People are drawn to Big Sky Country for obvious reasons—the sky just seems to go on forever until it's met with awe-inspiring mountains. The rugged, graceful setting provides ample inspiration for homeowners and fuels the designs of Brett R. Potter, AIA, LEED AP, principal of Yellowstone Architects. With a diverse portfolio of work— custom residential design to historic preservation, commercial buildings and beyond—Brett and his team approach each new project as an artist does a blank canvas, drawing inspiration from the owners' vision, the site itself, and vernacular Montana architecture. Outside, the home complements the scenery around it. Inside, each space is carefully designed to serve the needs of the people who will live within the walls. With a focus on the people for whom they create homes, Yellowstone Architects believes that architecture should respect the environment and be a solid investment in the owners' future. Brett operates with transparency and personable service that results in long-lasting relationships. His passion is apparent in his down-to-earth, hands-on approach that sets homeowners' minds at ease through every phase of the home building experience. Together with builders, contractors, and craftspeople, Yellowstone Architects creates distinctive homes in innovative ways, while having fun doing it. Here, large custom homes built in a tight cluster with a central lodge are surrounded by expansive acres of landscape with a minimal footprint, designed by landscape architect Michael E. Potter. This design is contrary to most large scale home building projects.
