RIGHT: Located on a cul-de-sac facing a creek and golf
course, the private home is organized around a series of
courtyards and outdoor decks. Contrary to most homes,
the outwardly-focused common areas are located on the
second floor to capitalize on the views across the street,
while the more inwardly-focused bedrooms are located at
ground level.
ABOVE: Situated on the north side of a hill, the home is
sculpted to draw natural light into all the major spaces. Large
windows facing light colored concrete patios and courtyards
bounce light deep into the interior. This upper-level deck is
designed for entertainment and relaxation and is sheltered
by built-in perimeter planters.
FACING PAGE TOP: Visitors enter the home at a light-
filled upper landing and can either travel up a few more
steps to the living room or walk down to the bedrooms
below. The custom-designed fir door adds warmth and
elegance to the entry and welcomes guests into the home.
FACING PAGE BOTTOM: A two-sided fireplace separates
the dining and living rooms on the second floor providing
separation while allowing the volume of the space to
continue visually uninterrupted. A niche off the dining room
provides a special place for art and an intimate spot for
reading or napping.
