TOP LEFT: Rectilinear windows seem to cascade down the
staircase, which also features locally-made custom ironwork.
BOTTOM LEFT: At night, the columns—lit up from below for
extra drama—positively glow. The long hearth, crafted of
chiseled edge bluestone slabs, grounds the space.
FACING PAGE TOP: Nana doors in the breakfast nook
completely fold open to the back patio. Pennsylvania
bluestone flooring extends throughout the indoor and outdoor
spaces, merging the two. Muted tones allow the landscape
and the artwork to be the feature throughout the home.
FACING PAGE BOTTOM: Custom art niches provide space for
featured artists and glassmakers. A streamlined fireplace
adds warmth without overpowering the room. The room's
serene color palette allows the landscape just beyond to
take center stage during the day. At night, balcony access
adds to the room's romance. Architect: Gelotte Hommas
Drivdahl. Architecture; Contractor: MacPherson Construction
& Design.

"Natural sunlight coming
through windows lights up
fabrics, materials, textures,
elevates mood. Without
luminosity and how it is
delivered, we do not have
a great design."
