ABOVE: Before the renovation, the kitchen was entirely cut
off from views of the water. Now, the front part of the kitchen,
complete with a granite countertop and bar seating, adds
to the open, social feel of the home. Around the corner, a
butler's kitchen provides more cooking space for caterers
during parties.
RIGHT: The round home's cantilevered entryway greets
guests upon arrival. Built without posts, the entry required
creativity on the part of a structural engineer and high-quality
materials to pull off.
FACING PAGE TOP: In a more traditional home, black and white
Vancouver Island marble graces the renovated vestibule.
The local material serves as an example of luxurious eco-
friendly design, and was intentionally selected for the couple
who hosts fundraising events for investors and environmental
causes.
FACING PAGE BOTTOM: An L-shaped home features a solar-
heated pool that serves not only as an entertainment space
for the family's children but also as a reflecting pool. Edged in
West Coast Wave Vancouver Island marble, the pool is taller
than the surrounding patio, providing seating like reflecting
pools in public spaces.
