Signature Wines and Wineries of Washington
Each of the nine vineyards on Mercer Ranches farm brings
its unique characteristics to the Mercer wine portfolio. Spice
Cabinet Vineyard sits on 18 acres adjacent to the Columbia
River. Its deep sandy soil and steep southeast aspect mimic
the characteristics of the Rhone region. The vineyard yields an
array of varietals including Grenache, Malbec, Mourvedre, Petit
Verdot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah.
The five-acre Big Teepee Vineyard sits adjacent to the Mercer
family farm. It was initially planted as a landscape improvement
site but surprised the family by consistently producing Cabernet
Sauvignon of extremely deep color and a healthy dose of rich
tannins.
Cavalie Vineyard was named in honor of Captain Alexander
Cavalie Mercer, a hero of the Battle of Waterloo. This vineyard
is also home to Block 93, dedicated to modern-day heroes of
Flight 93, the fourth plane hijacked on September 11, 2001, that
went down in rural Pennsylvania.
