The oldest blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon from 1987, 1988, and
1991, as well as the 1992 block of Merlot, provide grapes for J.
Bookwalter wines. Other varietals harvested from this vineyard
include Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Malbec, and Chardonnay.
The Elephant Mountain Vineyard provides the winery with
incredible Cabernets and Syrahs from its unique microclimate,
while the Bacchus and Dionysus Vineyards from the Sagemoor
group provide even more outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon,
Merlot, and a Neustadt clone Riesling. Each wine sports a
literary name—Suspense, Protagonist, Conflict, Antagonist—
and each boasts its own set of acclaim and awards.
Named among the best wineries to visit by Food & Wine
magazine, a top-nine winery with fabulous food by Zagat
Guide, and with 94 points for the Chapter 7 Cabernet
