65 Fast-forward to September 2001, when Bob, who had majored in entrepreneurial studies and worked in the software industry realized that his current career wasn't meant to be his final one. He quit his job, traveled the world, and went out to start a winery. With a business plan in hand and trusted winemaker friends to call upon, Bob started his first winery in 2002. A few years later, in 2005, Robert Ramsay Cellars was founded, and Bob credits the help of great winemakers—some of whom he met by chance in the vineyards—as one of the most important reasons for his success. "I never screwed up too badly," he jokes, but the lessons he learned have, without a doubt, contributed to the portfolio of traditional-style wines for which Robert Ramsay Cellars has become known. With an eye out for the perfect conditions to make a once-in-a-lifetime wine, Bob focuses on making exemplary wine that makes wine connoisseurs and beginning wine lovers alike exclaim, "I want more of that!" Moderately priced—some would say underpriced for their quality—and always food-friendly, Robert Ramsay Cellars TOP: The iconic Chapel at Red Willow Vineyard.
