THE GREAT SCHISM
gourmet pairings
Lamb shanks braised in red
wine.
tasting notes
This wine is a wonderful
example of the Southern
Rhone-style blends that our
Rocks District of Milton-Freewater has produced. It is packed
full of raspberry and strawberry fruit preserves, dried fruits, and
herbs de Provence. The wine has a wonderful viscosity and
mineral notes from the rocky soil, and has a soft and smooth
finish.
winemaker's insight
Our Riviere Galets vineyard in an ancient dried up riverbed
littered with round basalt stones that reach down to 100-300
feet beneath the surface. These stones radiate heat and reflect
sunlight making for a round fruit-forward wine with nuances of
the soils basalt mineral notes. The wine is aged in large oak
vats to avoid an overly oaky finish and emphasizes its high fruit
impact.
