TANNAT
gourmet pairings
Pair with pan-seared
Australian rack of lamb with
Allegretto pomegranate,
brown-butter-roasted sweet
potatoes, oak-grilled chard,
and broccoli.
tasting notes
The wine is medium bodied with the classic notes of Tannat.
Cinnamon and anise, followed by hints of red cherries are also
present. It's rich, yet supple, with a lingering finish.
winemaker's insight
Allegretto is one of the few wineries in California that specializes
in Tannat. The variety originates in southwestern France and has
found a real home here in Paso Robles. The grapes are grown
at the Allegretto Resort Vineyard. After careful hand-harvesting,
the grapes are destemmed and fermented in small open-top
containers. After the fermentation is complete, the grapes are
pressed into a combination of American and French oak and aged
for nearly two years.
